To transform fine hair into voluminous locks ...

Thursday, 20 February 2014

Since discovering this myself I've shared with lots of my clients, whom all report the same findings ... so, if you have fine hair and wish it was a bit thicker, purchase some Argan Oil Hair Mask.  Wow, that is good stuff!

I've seen it on Ebay for £3.99 but I bought mine in Savers for £1.  Shampoo your hair as usual and then swap your conditioner for this hydrating hair mask.  The only downside is I now look like I need a haircut :-)

Look Younger ... step away from the dark smoky eye!

Monday, 10 February 2014

Less is definitely more as we get older, especially when it comes to make-up.  Too much make-up can actually highlight our 'experience lines', and as for ladies who still insist on doing a smoky eye just how they used to do it in their 20's ... let's look at 2 possible examples:

Angela Lansbury (luckily this was stage make-up following a performance)

Claudia Winkleman, she was on her way to an awards ceremony

We do need definition as we get older, particularly on our eyes, but we have to move away from the black / dark eyeshadows we used to use, and replace them with less intense browns, greys, golds, whichever colours flatter your skin tone & eye colour.

Jane Fonda shows how to do it well; a make-up look that flatters the more mature lady (even if you haven't had her cosmetic surgery!):

How to wear a belt to look slimmer ...

Thursday, 6 February 2014

Belts are like statement necklaces, they should only be worn to draw attention to an area you would like people to look at.  So, if you are a full hourglass with enviable curves, like Marilyn Monroe, you definitely need a wardrobe full of belts to show off your waist!

The key to wearing the right belt is to ensure it's in proportion to your overall build, a very thin belt worn over clothes can make the wearer appear larger than they are:

Whereas a thicker belt can be much more flattering, especially if worn with an open cardigan / jacket:

Not everyone suits a belt; if you don't have a defined waist you're only bringing attention to the fact you don't have a waist.  Concentrate on your best features and use colours / patterns / accessories to bring attention to those.
